In September 2011, following the purchase of the 2011 Ford, the 2001 Ford was moved to Station 2 to provide wildland fire response at that station.
The Tarkington VFD purchased this
unit in June 2001 and it was delivered in October 2001. This truck replaced the 1981 Dodge which was destroyed in a fire in February 2001. The truck is the first responding unit on ground fires. With it's auxillary engine powered pump it can pump and roll and the onboard foam system means Class A foam can be used on brush fires, extending the firefighting capabilities.
